Most people know what is waterproofing, which is the process of eliminating water leakage. But how do you exactly achieve that? There are various methods to waterproofing, from hacking methods that provide long lasting solution to non-hacking treatment methods that requires a shorter duration and is hassle free. Today’s topic will be on one of the more commonly used method, that is, High Pressure PU Injection Grouting.
Water leakage can cause great amount of inconvenience and hassle for all homeowners. When the water leakage becomes more serious and lead to problems like mold and structural damages, it can become a costly and time-consuming problem to fix. So, why is waterproofing important? Waterproofing in houses is the formation of an impermeable barrier over surfaces of roofs, walls and other structural components to prevent water penetrations through these surfaces. These surfaces are usually constructed water resistant, and sometimes waterproof.
Waterproofing is considered as a skill that is very technical, and it requires the contractors to have years of experience together with sufficient and proper understanding of the engineering needs of waterproofing. When the repair works are not done the right way, it can potentially complicate things and cause more problems. This applies the same for PU injection grouting.
PU injection grouting is the process of injecting a grout material into inaccessible yet interconnected pores or void spaces, and is often referred simply as PU injection grouting. The grout is a chemical mixture that can be injected into cracks and pores to either strengthen a formation or to reduce water flow through it.
PU injection grouting is an injection of liquid grouting material into the structure under pressure. During the grouting process, fissures (an opening or line of breakage made by cracking or splitting in structures) and pores are filled with the grouting material, which subsequently hardens up and connects the disintegrated surfaces. PU injection grouting can help to fill the cracks fully as once the injection is administered; the foam expands to fill in the entire space of each crack. This fullness gives full coverage and protection from any water seepage. Another advantage of PU injection grouting is that the foam can be injected into wet areas, which means you do not have to wait till the leakage area is completely dry before taking action against further water damage.
