Covid-19 has taken 2020 by storm and has become a worldwide pandemic within a short span of a few months. The number of infected cases worldwide is still increasing at an alarming rate while governments scramble to set up and implement extreme measures such as social distancing and even lock-downs to combat the spread of this highly contagious virus, covid-19. Economies, businesses and employment are badly hit and it is a tough time for everyone. However, we must persevere and adhere to the governments’ implementations as they are for our own good and only through that can we tide through this together.
Singapore first implemented our very own Circuit Breaker (CB) on 7th Apr till 4th May but announced an extension on 21st Apr due to rising local infected cases count and the CB is now expected to cease on 1st June instead. These tough measures have caused inconveniences to us all but is definitely a necessary action in containing the spread of the virus. For more information on our local situation, click here.
Besides avoiding leaving our households except for essential activities, here are some appropriate precautions we can take to protect ourselves from covid-19:
- Wash our hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Do not touch our face, eyes, nose or mouth
- Wear a face mask if there is a need to leave your home
- Maintain a safe distance from other people when you are outside
- Seek medical attention if you are feeling unwell or are showing systems such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing
- Strictly adhere to all current and new directions given the local health authority or government
While we are obediently complying with the stay home measures, it is hard to deny that it can get boring to be cooped up in our homes all day. Many have taken to cleaning their homes or even started their own DIY makeovers at home during this covid-19 virus. We at SWC Construction advise home owners to thoroughly check for water leaks while doing their home cleaning during this period with the ample of time on our hands.
Signs to look out for water leakages are:
- Discoloured or yellowish stains and patches
- Change of surface texture such as “bubbles” forming
- Peeling paint
- Damp or even moldy surfaces
- Stale, moist and musty smell
- Water puddles at places that should not be present
If you have identified any of the mentioned signs or are already facing water leaks, do not hesitate to contact us for a free consultation or schedule a site visit for inspection!
