We all know that Waterproofing is the process of eliminating water leakage by making the leaking area waterproof or water resistant so that water cannot penetrate through. But how do we exactly do that? There are many different methods to waterproofing. Today’s topic will be on one of the more commonly used method, that is, High Pressure PU Injection Grouting.
What is High Pressure PU (polyurethane) Injection Grouting and how does it work? High Pressure PU Injection Grouting is basically a fast and affordable repair method for water leakages. It can be used to correct almost all kinds of leakages and also comes with a higher effectiveness. High Pressure PU Injection Grouting do not require any hacking, and is a more long lasting method as compared to coating of waterproofing membrane, thus, a highly recommended method to fix the water leakage at home.
High Pressure PU Injection Grouting works by injecting the grouting materials into the inaccessible pores or void spaces that cannot be seen with the naked eyes of a human, therefore, neither the configuration nor the exact area of fissures can be identified. The main purpose of grouting is to strengthen a formation or to prevent water to flow through it. Aside from water leakage prevention, High Pressure PU Injection Grouting can also be used to correct faults in masonry structures and concrete. High Pressure PU Injection Grouting has been largely used ever since it was first introduced back in the days and has been performed on dams, to effectively minimize the amount of water that leaks through the rocks. It is also used to strengthen the foundation of the dams to support the weight of the overlying structure such as earth, concrete, or rock fill. Today, pressure grouting has become an essential to construction and is also largely practiced by waterproofing contractors. However, it has to be emphasized that pressure grouting is an iterative process and in order to perform this process, individuals are required to have the relevant expertise and skills.
High Pressure PU Injection Grouting results in lesser inconvenience to homeowners, because the repair work do not involve any hacking of tiles or removing of any existing fixtures, therefore, here at SWC Construction, we would highly recommend the use of this method to stop your water leakage at home. How do we perform this process?
As suggested by the name of the method itself, High Pressure PU Injection Grouting is an injection of liquid grouting material into the structure under pressure. During the grouting process, fissures (an opening or line of breakage made by cracking or splitting in structures) and pores are filled with the grouting material, which subsequently hardens and connects the disintegrated surfaces. High Pressure PU Injection Grouting can help to fill the cracks fully as once the injection is administered, the foam expands to fill in the entire space of each crack. This fullness gives full coverage and protection from any water seepage. Another advantage of High Pressure PU Injection Grouting is that the atmosphere’s moisture content does not matter. The foam can be injected into wet areas, which means you do not have to wait till the leakage area is completely dry before taking action against further water damage. Not to mention High Pressure PU Injection Grouting remains flexible too.
