Most people know what is Waterproofing, which is the process of eliminating water leakage by making wet areas waterproof or water resistant so that water cannot infiltrate through. But how do you exactly achieve that? Today, there are various methods to waterproofing, from hacking methods that provide more long lasting solution to non-hacking treatment methods that requires a shorter duration and is hassle free. Today’s topic will be on one of the more commonly used method, that is, High Pressure PU Injection Grouting.
High Pressure PU injection grouting is the process of injecting a grout material into inaccessible yet interconnected pores or void spaces, and is often referred simply as PU injection grouting. The grout is a chemical mixture that can be injected into cracks and pores to either strengthen a formation or to reduce water flow through it.
PU injection grouting is greatly used to correct faults in concrete and masonry structures. Back in the 19th century, PU injection grouting has been performed on the foundation of some of the world’s greatest dams to reduce water leakage and to strengthen the foundation to support the weight of the overlying structure, be it of concrete, earth, or rock fill. It is also a key procedure in the creation of post-tensioned pre-stressed concrete, a material used in many concrete bridge designs.
High Pressure PU Injection Grouting is a waterproofing method that results in lesser inconvenience to homeowners, because the repair work do not involve any hacking of tiles or removing of any existing fixtures, therefore, here at SWC Construction, we would highly recommend the use of this method to stop your water leakage at home. How do we perform this process?
As suggested by the name of the method itself, High Pressure PU Injection Grouting is an injection of liquid grouting material into the structure under pressure. During the grouting process, fissures (an opening or line of breakage made by cracking or splitting in structures) and pores are filled with the grouting material, which subsequently hardens up and connects the disintegrated surfaces. High Pressure PU Injection Grouting can help to fill the cracks fully as once the injection is administered; the foam expands to fill in the entire space of each crack. This fullness gives full coverage and protection from any water seepage. Another advantage of High Pressure PU Injection Grouting is that the foam can be injected into wet areas, which means you do not have to wait till the leakage area is completely dry before taking action against further water damage.
