SWC Construction, provide professional application of waterproof system membranes that offer highly effective waterproofing resistance.
Waterproofing membrane is a thin layer of water-tight material that is laid on the surface. The layer is continuous layer that does not allow water to pass through regardless of temperature. Waterproofing membrane may be placed above the structural slab and below the finish tiles. It is basically a process of making a surface water-resistant so that it does not affect by water. Good waterproofing should be strong, flexible, tear-resistant, ultra-violet stable, and elastic so that it can stretch to cover cracks and joints of the building as well as flooring.
Membranes can be used in over terrace slabs and balconies, toilets, basements, concrete landscapes, and swimming pools.
Different kinds of waterproofing membrane can be used depending on the circumstances. Some common type of membrane, Cementitious membrane, Clear waterproofing membrane, and Polyurethane waterproofing membrane. There are other commonly used waterproofing method too.
1. Cementitious waterproofing membrane
Cement waterproofing is one of the traditional methods used in wet and internal areas like bathroom, kitchen, and balcony.
Cementitious membrane is mixed with cement and other substances to be compatible with usage on various types of structures. It is environment friendly, non-toxic, non-shrink grout that use to waterproof the repaired surface. It is reactive chemical will react with water, penetrating the surface to form crystals in the concrete to stop the passage of water seepage. They are highly flexible which help to adhere to most surface to cover hairline cracks. It is primarily used for waterproof floor, wall structure repair of leaking areas in concrete basement. It achieves strong non-corrosive bonding to concrete.
Cementitious waterproofing coating main advantage is that can and should be applied to a clean damp surface therefore there is no need to have dry surface. This membrane can be applied on wet and dry substrate directly on vertical, slope and top surface, good weather resistance for outdoor.
2. Clear waterproofing membrane/Clear penetrative waterproofing Treatment
Clear penetrative waterproofing treatment (CPT) is one of the options for waterproof the balcony and bathroom without removing the tile from the surface. It is the easiest method to make your balcony water-resistant. It is a material that can be applied onto any surface that contact with water. When this material dries and cures, it forms a transparent waterproof membrane. It is versatile, can be applied to most surface.
It is high build waterproofing membrane for the sealing and long-lasting protection of exterior surfaces. The coating combines a high degree of flexibility with considerable cohesive strength and water resistance. It can absorb substrate movement and to bridge cracks, ideally use for waterproof external façade and rooftop, balcony, etc.
Clear waterproofing membrane can apply to all common building material such as concrete, brick, wood, tile, ceramic, granite, and marble surface. This membrane is water based, flexible, scrub and water resistant, non-flammable, non-toxic and hazard free.
3. Polyurethane waterproofing membrane
Polyurethane waterproofing membrane are used for highly exposed to weathering area such as roof waterproofing, balcony, swimming pool, walkway slab, bathroom waterproofing, retaining wall and carpark. It is highly versatile nature, enable it to be used for virtually any type of structure and surface. Suitable for external area of waterproofing, on wall and on floor subjected to ultra-violet radiation. PU waterproofing membrane is cost effective and heat shielding coating that reduce interior temperature of building. It minimises surface temperature on roof and wall by reflecting a percentage of radiant heat energy before it penetrates the building. This lower interior temperature and reduce energy cost for cooling the building.
Polyurethane (PU) membrane is a flexible, water-based modified, elastomeric waterproofing membrane that is adhesive, non-toxic and non-flammable. PU membranes form a tough flexible membrane film which eliminates the need for a reinforcing layer to enforce movement joints. Widely use in waterproofing the wall structure in toilet, shower area, terrace, balcony.
Polyurethane waterproofing membrane prevent surface water penetration as well. Such material is non-blistering and UV resistant, with fast drying waterproofing membrane with excellent chemical resistance properties. It can be applied on damp surface making it ideal for both internal and external use such as concealed waterproofing system for terrace, balcony, façade, concrete roof including walkways and planter box. Can be applied on damp visibly dry surfaces without fear of blistering. This membrane is an environment friend product that does not give off fumes or gases which will affect health; therefore, it is most suitable for confined area.
