Walk Path Leaking

A walking path is a public area where there is a high human traffic flow outside your residential or commercial building. This includes construction around the estate, variable ground conditions, and weather conditions. Walk path leakage occur during the summer months; this is because dry conditions cause the soil surrounding the pipes to shrink. The soil pulls away from the pipes, creating pressure that can lead to cracking. The prolonged period of dry weather resulted in a steep rise in walk path leaking.

The path integration during hot and cold temperature changes in Singapore’s climate, where expansion and contraction occur on the concrete walk path flooring all day long.

When you notice puddles of water are collected and always never dries up and it seems to be emanating from some source off to the right of the sidewalks. There is a possibility of water leakage in walk path which we classified as walk path leaking problem.

The clues for locating a leak are to check for water coming out from the walls such as wall leakage or underneath your home. Check for cracks in your tiles or stone, if you find water the next step is to check if the leaks are coming from areas that are close to water sources such as pipes underneath such as basement. Make sure there are no faucets running water or other water sources that are from your home. Check your water meter which is usually located in your front yard or water meter box. If the meter reading still running when you have all the water in your home turned off, it shows somewhere there is a leak.

If you find no leaks coming from these apparent sites, then there is a high likelihood that you have a leak in the water pipe in your walls or under your concrete slab, such as underground pipes causing the leak. We may also classify such leakage apart from walk path leaking treatment as basement waterproofing. Some leaks are not obvious from above ground, because water appears underground and no one sees it.

Water leaks have a distinctive noise profile and have a different frequency than normal water flow. SWC Construction uses an acoustic leak detection device to find leaks by differentiating leak sounds from those normal water flow through pipes.

One of the tools we use is an Ultrasonic leak detection tool. It is an effective and non-invasive method of detecting water pipe leaks. It is the use of a listening device to amplify the sound of water or air escaping from a pipe, valve, or fitting to better determine if your walk path leaking is caused by a burst pipe or any external or internal factors.

The homeowner is responsible for all pipes, fittings, and devices on the point of water supply into their home. The point of water supply is the outlet of the meter fitting closest to your home pipe. This applies whether the meter is inside or outside the property boundary. If the leak is on the owner’s side of the point of supply, it is probably a fault within the owner’s water supply pipe. Homeowners will need to get the leak fixed in this instance.

In some scenarios, there might not be any piping leakage that will cause the water to pond on the walking path. Temperature, shrinkage, and structural crack, underground piping expansion, could cause concrete cracking due to high stress and defects in the element allowing leakage and lateral migration of water and effectively introducing uncontrolled corrosion of steel reinforcement. Groundwater leakage through concrete continues to bring water with dissolved oxygen and enhances the electrolytic environment, further saltwater exacerbates the problem dramatically.

To control leakage into a concrete element, we have an effective solution to fill the void within the leaking concrete element. We could use Polyurethane (PU) Injection grouting to solidify the leaking point of water origin.

Polyurethane (PU) Injection grouting is a technique that involves an interior surface seal on the leaking concrete element. The grout material is deposited behind the wall, cracks, and joints, water seepage is controlled on the concrete and the void remains filled to stop the extension over the cracks and joints. PU Injection grouting is a cost-effective solution with the criteria that provides the longest service life. PU Injection application is a non-hacking method, mess-free, fast, economical, environment friendly, and effective solution.
